Woodbridge named best place to live, East England, 2021

According to The Sunday Times, Woodbridge is the best place to live in the East of England. A place where “life revolves around the river in this timeless town that offers storybook architecture and dazzling wildlife”.

This comes as no surprise really given this gorgeous little market town has been hugely popular with my clients for several years now. Its lovely scenery, great school, amenities and community mean that a 10-mile radius around Woodbridge is very desirable for both first and second homes.

The Sunday Times excerpt:

Stroll along the River Deben at Woodbridge early in the morning and you’ll hear gulls screeching above, wading birds calling from the mudflats and the gentle lap of the tide. The houseboats are stacked with cheerful flower pots and smoke rises from their chimneys along with the scent of breakfast. Even before the Netflix film The Dig shone a spotlight on this stunning part of Suffolk, Woodbridge residents knew they lived somewhere special.

The town’s historical, brightly coloured buildings, winding lanes and hidden alleys are straight out of a story book, while the velvet seats and tasselled curtains in the Riverside cinema are charmingly old-fashioned.

The area is full of sites of natural and historic interest, including the famous Sutton Hoo, now even more celebrated due to the recent film, The Dig.

Woodbridge isn’t stuck in the past though, it has developed into a lovely town with all modern amenities and conveniences, loads to do for all the family, a top school in the independent, Woodbridge School and other great primary and secondary schools.

It has an exceptional community with loads of events, riverside cinema, boot camps, artisan markets, clubs for all manner of things. Find out what’s going on on the Choose Woodbridge website, http://choosewoodbridge.co.uk/.
